If you’re running a live or silent auction at an event, CauseVox makes it simple to manage bidder check-in and participation with In-Person Auctions. Enabling pre-registration ensures a smooth check-in process and gives bidders the option to place bids both at your event or online (if online bidding is enabled).
Best Practices
Encourage participants to pre-register through their Portal account before the event. This speeds up check-in and ensures all bidders are linked to the auction.
Have staff ready to create bidder accounts manually for walk-ins.
If you’re running both online + in-person bidding, make sure your settings align with when you want bidding to open.
To set up in-person auctions with pre-registration follow the steps below:
Step 1: Select the site settings >> Auctions >> General, then enable one or both of the following:
Enable In-Person Auctions: When enabled, bidders must be pre-registered before they can place bids. Pre-registration occurs either through their portal account, or by admin manually creating the bidder account in the CauseVox Admin Interface.
Enable Portal Bidder Registration: When enabled, users can register for the auction (completing the pre-registration process) directly from their portal account. When combined with the above settings alleviates in-person registration as users can register themselves ahead of time.
Step 2: Select the site Design and ensure the Portal Login and Sign Up links are enabled in your header Navigation bar module.
Step 3: Send participants the site Sign Up/Login link at any time prior to the auction launch, or in person event. This way participants can use the portal Login/SignUp option and pre-register for the auction and add a payment on file.
Please Note:
The Sign Up link should be sent to bidders who are signing up for a CauseVox member portal account for the first time, ie. do not have an existing recurring gift, fundraiser or auction account on CauseVox yet.
The Login link should be sent to bidders who already have a member portal on CauseVox. They should use their existing CauseVox email and password to login and register for the auction on the current site.
