You can import donation data into CauseVox so you can keep track of the activity of your donors over time.

To add a donation profile and import data, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Navigate to Manage and select Donations >> Import.

Step 2: Drag and drop your CSV file or select browse to upload the file.

In order to import your donations, your CSV or Excel file must be formatted correctly. The first row of your spreadsheet are the headings that correspond to a data field in each donation. Each additional row after the heading row will correspond to an individual donation profile.

There is currently a maximum limit of 5000 rows per uploaded spreadsheet. You'll want to split up your donation data into multiple spreadsheets if you exceed more than 5000 contacts.

You can download a sample spreadsheet here to get started or to use as an example.

  • Imports cannot be undone.

  • It is highly recommended that you download our sample spreadsheet to avoid errors when importing.

Supported Data Fields

When importing your donations, there are several required fields:

  • first_name

  • amount

  • currency_code

  • campaign_id

However, we recommend adding as much information with each donation profile so you can better manage your data over time. The following supported fields are listed below. Your column headings must match these exactly or that field will not be imported.

display_name

  • The public display of the name associated with the donation

first_name

  • The first name of the donor

last_name

  • The last name of the donor

line1

  • The first line of the address of the donor

line2

  • The second line of the address of the donor

city

  • The city of the donor

state

  • The state of the donor

zipcode

  • The zip or postal code of the donor

country

  • The country of the donor

email

  • The email address of the donor

currency_code (required)

  • The currency of the donation

comment

  • The comment on the donation

anonymous

  • The status of the public display name of the donation

transaction_id (if used, this will overwrite any existing donations with the same transaction ID if they are offline donations)

  • The id of the donation

campaign_id (required, must be assigned to a campaign/site)

  • The id of the campaign to which the donation is assigned

project_id

  • The id of the personal page to which the donation is assigned

team_id

  • The id of the team page to which the donation is assigned

Additional Notes

  • Imported offline donations can be updated through new donation imports if a unique identifier for each donation has been specified. Use the “transaction_id” column to specify a unique identifier.

  • Using the "transaction_id" of an existing live donation will have no effect.
